Tamarack to spend $52 million on 10 construction projects, including ski lifts and first hotel-lodge

More than 450 jobs, many of them local, will be created this summer

Press Release: Tamarack Resort
April 22, 2004
DONNELLY, Idaho - An exciting array of full-blown construction activity is getting under way at Tamarack Resort this spring as more than 15 contractors gear up to work on $52 million worth of construction projects, including two Leitner Poma detachable quad chairlifts, a four-story, 75,000-square-foot Members Lodge for The Club at Tamarack Resort and 60 cottages and chalets. All of this work - and more - is devoted to creating the first four-season ski, golf and lake resort to be built in the U.S. in 22 years.

Neibur Construction of Colorado Springs, Colo., will complete the Robert Trent Jones II signature 18-hole golf course rough cut last year, by adding bunkers, constructing greens and tees, building a practice range, installing irrigation and seeding the course in preparation for the golf course opening in summer of 2005. Utah-based Sprung Instant Structures will build seven finely appointed buildings, including a 4,500-square-foot Recreation/Retail Center and 4,500-square-foot Cafeteria/Restaurant, in time to support the resort's alpine skiing operations in the winter of 2004-2005.

Additional projects include erecting three surface ski lifts, carving new ski slopes on the Tamarack Ski Mountain completing the first 200 acres built last year, building approximately 15 estate homes for new Tamarack residents, constructing three elegant stone bridges over Discovery Drive for Tamarack's 30K Nordic course, cutting about eight miles of new mountain bike trails to be built by IMBA, multiple landscaping projects and road and utility construction in the whitewater district to the north of the resort.

Idaho economic development officials said the new construction activity at Tamarack Resort will provide a genuine shot in the arm for the Idaho rural economy, particularly in Valley County and surrounding communities. Tamarack's construction contractors have been encouraged to hire local people and local subcontractors to the maximum extent possible.

"Jean-Pierre Boespflug's leadership at Tamarack Resort has led to the launching of one of the finest economic development engines in Idaho over the past 20 years," said John Blaye, an economic development consultant with Valley County. "The 450 jobs that will be created to build this first-class ski resort will bring great rewards to the businesses, families and children of Valley County. The benefits will go far beyond our borders and create a positive economic impact that will be felt around the state and the entire Pacific Northwest."

"In virtually every aspect of our rapidly growing resort project - the Tamarack Ski Mountain, Golf Meadow, Discovery Village, Resort Village and Tamarack Real Estate Properties - there will be a flurry of construction activity throughout the summer of 2004," said Jean-Pierre Boespflug, chief executive officer of Tamarack Resort LLC. "We are excited to see all of these projects moving ahead, thanks to the strength of our real estate sales and business plan."
