LAS VEGAS, NV -- The local chapter of Candlelighters for Childhood Cancer are receiving a $24,295 check from Diamond
Resorts International (DRI), following a fund-raising event by Diamond Resorts International, its employees, and
business partners.
"We very much appreciate the generosity of Polo and its employees," said Cathy Smith, executive director
of Candlelighters for Childhood Cancer of Southern Nevada. "Their donation will go a long way in helping
these children and their caregivers cope with this terrible disease."
Diamond Resorts International, who owns the Polo Towers timeshare resort on the Las Vegas Strip, held the fund-raiser
as part of its annual party for its employees. In exchange for a donation, guests were treated to dinner sponsored
by Big Mama's Ribshack, drinks, and entertainment provided by "The Fab" and the Company's own group,
"The Time Bandits." Additionally, guests to the event participated in a silent auction with donations
being provided by DRI's valued business partners and many local groups including, Marriott Vacation Club International,
Interval International, The ICE Gallery, The Venetian, Treasure Island, The Stratosphere, The Tropicana, Westward-Ho,
The Hard Rock, Guest Guide, Outback Steakhouse, Ruth Chris, Planet Hollywood, The Pink Taco, Border Grill, Order
Inn, Big Apple Bagels, Big Mamas Ribshack, Elite Photo Graphics, Art Affair, A Warm Wish, Lizzie's Heaven Scent
Flower's & Gifts, The Design Studio, Laguna Spa, Annie Bananie Tours, King Airlines, Vegas Valley Business
Forms, Walter's Golf, musical group "Johnny" and Moondust Specialty Cakes. Additional donations for
the auction were provided by Polo Towers Home Owner's Association and the resort's Pony Express Market.
"We were thrilled to see such overwhelming support from our employees and valued business partners" said
Robert C. Wengel RRP, President of Diamond Resorts International. "I can think of no finer charity than Candlelighters
with their tireless work assisting the children and their families who have been stricken with this horrendous
disease.
Candlelighters is a nationwide organization dedicated to providing financial and moral support for children with
cancer and their caregivers.
