Shell Vacations Donates Hawaiian & Canadian Vacations to Ontario's Reach for the Rainbow Charity Events

Press Release: Shell Vacations LLC
May 27, 2003
NORTHBROOK, IL -- Believing that charity does indeed begin at home, one of the nation's largest independent vacation ownership developers has donated two weeks of vacation time at two of their resorts to Reach for the Rainbow (RFTR) a Canadian charity serving children with physical disabilities.

In addition to its 14 resorts located in Hawaii, California, Oregon and Arizona, Shell Vacations LLC is co-owner of the 1600-acre Horseshoe Resort in Barrie, Ontario, Canada and the Carriage Hills Resort. Shell Vacations has over 2,500 employees serving close to 80,000 owner/members.

To assist in its fund raising efforts, Shell donated a week's vacation at its Legacy Golf Resort in Phoenix or the Holua Resort on the Big Island of Hawaii to the successful bidder at the 6th Annual BMW Ultimate Golf Challenge Charity Auction, played in late April. Television coverage of the golf tournament is scheduled for June 7-8 on major TV networks.

Shell has also donated a week's vacation at its Carriage Hills Resort for the charity's Crystal Ball to be held November 15 at the Metro Toronto Convention Center, presented by BMW Group Canada with Host Sponsor Teranet Inc.

Added Shell Vacations Chairman Sheldon Ginsburg, "We were delighted to be able to help this wonderful charity by contributing complimentary vacations for its golf tournament and charity auction."

Reach for the Rainbow (RFTR) is a registered charity providing assistance to Ontario children and young adults with developmental and physical disabilities. RFTR is 100% self-funded and does not receive any government support, or funding from agencies like The United Way. This requires them to continually raise funds to sustain its programs. In 2002, RFTR provided services and opportunities to over 550 children, young adults, and their families. (For general information about RFTR, please call (416) 503-0088, Extension 110, or e-mail them at info@reach.on.ca.)

The City of Toronto has proclaimed June 8-14, 2003 as Reach for the Rainbow Week, sponsored by CANPAR, recognizing the importance of creating integrated recreational opportunities for children and young adults with disabilities. Reach for the Rainbow Week provides the charity an opportunity to create integration awareness and promote its good works by addressing the challenges children and young adults with disabilities and their families face on a day-to-day basis.

At Carriage Hills, Shell is currently building 78 two-bedroom/two-bath units which will comprise the 4th phase of the timeshare component at the Horseshoe Resort, bringing the total to 250 timeshare units. This will be Shell's first ski-in/ski-out site at the ski and golf resort. Construction began last fall with new units and recreational amenities expected to be delivered by September of next year.
