WASHINGTON, DC -- The American Resort Development Association announced yesterday the first celebrity in what it
promises will be a "star-studded lineup" for its 2003 convention program, naming fresh-faced actor/comedian
Jon Stewart as headline entertainer at the '03 ARDA Awards Gala, "Live! At The ARDYs."
Stewart, of current fame for his role as host of Comedy Central's The Daily Show, will entertain attendees at the
association's annual night of recognition, scheduled this year for Sunday, April 6-a departure from previous years,
when the gala was held on the final night of the ARDA International Convention and Expo.
Stewart has become a household name for his earnest-and-hilarious delivery of social and political observations.
Since his first TV gig-The Jon Stewart Show, which aired on MTV-Stewart's racked up awards and accolades at each
stop in his career, including a Peabody Award for Broadcast Excellence and an Emmy for writing in a variety TV
series.
He's also written a New York Times best-seller, starred in smash-hit Big Daddy alongside Adam Sandler and twice
hosted the GRAMMYs for CBS.
"Jon Stewart makes comedy look easy," said ARDA President Howard Nusbaum. "He's smart and witty,
and he's approachable-while you're laughing, you're thinking, 'I could be the only person in the room right now.'"
Stewart will take the stage at the ARDA Awards Gala, which will be held during the association's 2003 convention,
Center Stage-set to take place April 4-8 in Orlando, Florida at the Gaylord Palms resort and convention center.
For participants in ARDA's awards program, the gala is the culmination of a year-long selection process that identifies
among thousands of submissions those companies that have excelled in timeshare business fields like marketing,
design, sales and more. Also recognized are winners of the ARDA Circle of Excellence awards, given to individuals
and companies whose extraordinary achievements both set new standards for and positively impacted the timeshare
community.
