FORSYTH — A 46-year-old Taney County man was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder in the Tuesday night shooting of a Reeds Spring resident.

It was 8:43 p.m. when the Taney County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call from Michael Allen Gill, 46, who rented a condominium at Fall Creek Resort just south of the Branson city limits, said Sheriff Jimmie Russell.

According to an affidavit from Sheriff’s Department investigator David Rozell, Gill told the 911 operator that a man had been shot and that deputies needed to remove the body.

When deputies arrived at the scene, Gill was sitting in a chair with a shotgun leaning against the kitchen counter. The muzzle of the shotgun was covered with blood and hair with some showing inside the barrel, Rozell said.

On the floor in front of the counter, 31-year-old George Daiker was lying on his side on a mattress in a pool of blood. Examination of the body revealed he apparently died from a gunshot wound that entered the back of his head near the spinal cord, Rozell said.

A motive is not yet known, but the investigation has so far revealed that the two men apparently had a disagreement at the condominium earlier in the evening, Russell said. The two men were apparently alone in the condo at the time of the shooting. Gill had been living in the area for about a year, Russell said.

The condo Gill occupied is owned by an individual and not rented from Fall Creek Resort, said resort general manager Laurie Radney.

He is being held in the Taney County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bond. He is set for a court reappearance at 9 a.m. Monday, Taney County Prosecutor Rodney Danniels said Wednesday.
