A Reeds Spring man was shot in the head and killed at Fall Creek Resort Tuesday evening, according to police.

Taney County Sheriff Jimmie Russell said deputies responded to the resort, which is just outside of Branson city limits, around 8 p.m. and found George Daiker, 32, dead of a gunshot wound to the head.

"My deputies noted that there were suspicious circumstances involving the shooting and immediately treated it as a homicide," Russell said. "The investigation continued and we now have a Branson resident in custody."

According to Taney County Prosecuting Attorney Rodney Daniels, Michael Allen Gill, 46, of Branson, has been charged with first degree murder and armed criminal action.

"It is alleged that Gill knowingly caused the death of George Daiker by shooting him," Daniels said. "It is also alleged that Gill used a deadly weapon in committing the murder and that is the basis for the armed criminal action charge."
