September 27, 2002
LOS ANGELES, CA -- Michael D. Hirsch, general manager of the Hilton Los Angeles North/Glendale, has been appointed
chairman of the Los Angeles County Hotel and Motel Group, a division of the Southern California Business Association.
Hirsch was elected on September 5 and succeeds Juan Aquinde, general manager of the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal
City.
The mission of the Los Angeles County Hotel and Motel Group is to produce and deliver member-responsive products
and services that are tailored for the needs of hotel owners/operators as well as the related needs of vendors,
suppliers and other organizations serving the lodging industry. The organization also plays a vital role in promoting
public awareness.
"I am so delighted to be assuming the chairmanship of such an esteemed organization during a crucial time
for LA's hospitality industry," says Hirsch. "I am looking forward to building upon Juan Aquinde and
President Les Benson's years of hard work, and leading the hotel association into one of the most service-oriented
of its kind. There is no better time than now to create a stronger and more collective voice for LA County's hotel
community."

at the Collins School of Hospitality at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and has also assisted
the hospitality program at Glendale Community College. Hirsch is a frequent guest lecturer at both institutions
as well as a professional mentor. He is also active within the Glendale community and is president-elect of the
