Press Release: Marriott International, Inc.
October 17, 2002
BOSTON, MA -- Guest rooms at the award-winning Boston Marriott Copley Place are sporting a new look, following
a $21 million renovation. From furniture to bedding, carpeting to drapes, and television sets to bathroom fixtures,
each of the over 1,000 standard guest rooms have been completely remodeled. The resulting design is at once classic
and contemporary, with a comfortable, residential appeal.
As guests enter the room, they are struck first by the elegant and inviting bedding package. A lofty, thick duvet
is turned back to reveal an assortment of the highest quality down pillows. Cotton sheets are cool and crisp, and
the bottom sheet is fitted, just like at home. The all-new foam mattress provides restful support for road-weary
travelers.
Across from the bed, an elegant armoire holds a 27” television monitor, a state-of-the-art safe designed to house
laptop computers, complimentary coffee and tea service, and a small refrigerator. Guests can stock their own ice
box with items of personal preference, unlike the typical, pre-set selection found in most mini-bars. Correspondingly,
the hotel’s updated gift shop inventory includes a variety of snacks and drinks perfect for late night munching
or a light, healthy break.
Essential for most travelers, the two-tiered desk provides flexible and generous space. The lower tier is on casters,
and can be rolled out to form an L-shaped office, or removed completely to another area of the room for dining
purposes. On top of the desk, a bright reading lamp and two-line telephone ensure the user’s complete convenience.
An ergonomic chair makes late nights at the computer easy, at least on the back. In addition, plump, comfortable
reading chairs create another distinct area for working or relaxing.
The guest room color palette is a harmonious mix of vibrant blues, soothing greens, rich burgundies and smoldering
golds. Carpets, draperies, linens and upholstery complement each other without competing. Wooden furnishings are
finished in warm cherry tones. Throughout the room, regional artwork, brushed nickel lamps and oversized mirrors
create a homey ambiance.
Bathrooms have also been completely remodeled. They now boast green granite and cherry wood vanities, and craftsman’s
four-tile porcelain floors. Polished nickel wall sconces, local artwork, and a boldly patterned shower curtain
continue some of the bedroom’s decorative themes.
Guests who prefer concierge level accommodations enjoy all of these improvements, plus additional amenities, including
complimentary bottled water, specialized bath products, and thick terry robes. The Concierge Lounge is also recently
upgraded. Lounge seating, as well as meal and cocktail service areas are all new, and a shimmering chandelier adds
finish to the breathtaking room. An expanded concierge desk provides an inviting environment for those requiring
the resources of a professional concierge.
The Boston Marriott Copley Place is located in the heart of Boston’s Back Bay. Convenient to downtown businesses,
shopping and attractions, it is just minutes from Logan Airport, Amtrak Station, the Copley Place “T” and numerous
Boston suburbs.
A recipient of the Gold Key, Pinacle, Planners’ Choice, Medical Meetings and Corporate and Incentive Travel Award,
the Boston Marriott Copley Place has over 60,000 square feet of flexible meeting and exhibit space. High-speed
internet access is wired into all meeting rooms, and the hotel’s in-house audiovisual team stands ready to assist
with technical needs. An expert team of catering and culinary professionals offers specialized menus and personalized
service.
A selection of restaurants and lounges, as well as 24-hour room service, provide tempting dining options. Additional
amenities include an indoor pool, full-service health club, on-site business center, gift shop, car rental and
airline reservation desk, activities and tour desk, valet service, and guest laundry.
