RIU To Inaugurate Its 100th Establishment, In Cadiz

PLAYA DE PALMA, Majorca -- In April RIU will inaugurate its 100th establishment, in Cadiz

The ClubHotel Riu Chiclana will have 832 rooms and will be the chain's biggest 'resort'

RIU Hotels & Resorts (www.riu.com) is making progress on the construction of the ClubHotel Riu Chiclana, in Sancti Petri (Cadiz). The 832-room hotel will be the chain's biggest 'resort', as well as its 100th establishment.

RIU plans to inaugurate this 4-star establishment (set on the seafront with extensive gardens) in April of 2003.

Outstanding features of the complex are the wide variety of sports on offer and the typical Andalusian architectural style of the building.

This is the RIU chain's ninth establishment in Andalusia, where it already has 6 hotels in Malaga and 2 on the coast of Huelva.

It is also the chain's 12th ClubHotel, a product that combines the comfort of a traditional hotel with the range of sports and entertainment offered by a Club.

RIU Hotels currently has 96 hotels in 10 countries and 13,000 employees.

The chain's largest establishment to date is the ClubHotel Riu Jalisco, with 700 rooms. It is followed by the ClubHotel Riu Tequila in Mexico, with 664 rooms and the ClubHotel Riu Gran Canaria, with 633 rooms.

RIU Hotels was founded in 1953 in Playa de Palma (Majorca) and since then has been dedicated exclusively to sun and beach holidays.

This year Swiss travel agents named RIU "the best hotel chain in the world".
