Press Release: Sedona Resort Management
March 12, 2002
IRVINGTON, VA -- Sedona Resort Management (SRM), has named William Dougherty as Director of Sales for The Tides
Inn, an historic inn on the Chesapeake Bay set to re-open next month after a multi-million dollar renovation under
new SRM management. Dougherty will be responsible for all sales and marketing of The Tides Inn, which includes
the hotel (recently designated a Leading Small Hotel of the World), Golden Eagle Golf Club, The Tides Marina, and
the 127-foot National Historic yacht, Miss Ann.
``Bill brings a wealth of experience in sales and marketing to The Tides Inn,'' said Larry McAfee, General Manager.
``We're delighted to have such a uniquely qualified veteran of the hotel industry with a tremendous background
in sales and service.''
Prior to joining The Tides Inn, Dougherty spent ten years at The Plaza, New York, rising through the ranks from
National Sales Manager to Assistant Director of Sales and most recently, Director of Sales. A Certified Meeting
Planner (CMP), Dougherty indicates that a central focus for him at The Tides Inn will be positioning the destination
as a leading venue for corporate and association group meetings.
SRM and its principals have a long history of successfully managing and repositioning environmentally sensitive
and culturally attuned properties. Prior to forming the company in 1992, SRM President George Lidicker was responsible
for opening or repositioning 23 major projects in environmentally pristine areas.
The Tides Inn joins Enchantment Resort (Sedona); Mii amo, a destination spa at Enchantment (Sedona); and Cedar
Breaks Lodge (Utah) as SRM's fourth property.
