Press Release: Kor Hotel Group
July 16, 2002
SANTA MONICA, CA -- The former Pacific Shores Hotel re-opened on July 12 as Viceroy, an oceanfront hotel that combines
British-inspired design with a contemporary beach city atmosphere.
The 170-room hotel is the newest hospitality endeavor by the Kor Hotel Group and kwid (Kelly Wearstler Interior
Design), the creative forces behind Avalon Hotel and Maison 140 in Beverly Hills and Estrella in Palm Springs.
Originally built in 1969, Viceroy has undergone a $15 million renovation, including a complete interior redesign.
Located at the crossroads of Ocean Avenue and Pico Boulevard, this urban retreat at the shore overlooks the Pacific
Ocean and is moments from Santa Monica's finest shopping, dining, entertainment and recreational options.
The hotel's style, dubbed modern colonial, combines classic English Regency hallmarks, such as applied mouldings,
caning, and cameo motifs, with such crisp modern twists as Lucite furnishings, up-to-the-moment technology, and
a vibrant green signature color.
Each of the Viceroy guest rooms, one-bedroom executive suites, and presidential caliber Monarch suite are appointed
with Frette linens and bathrobes, custom beds with down comforters and pillows, body and hair care products by
Molton Brown of London, and marble baths with seated vanities, soaking tubs and one-of-a-kind bodycare mini-bars.
Dining choices in the hotel include Whist, a new venture by Tim Goodell -- the executive chef behind the successful
restaurants Aubergine and Troquet -- and Cameo Bar, a cocktail lounge serving casual selections created by the
restaurant. Viceroy also features several conference areas including the Bristol Room, a 1300 square foot hall
suitable for catered private dining and film screenings, two lap pools, private poolside cabanas and a fitness
center.
Reservations are now being accepted. For further information, please call (800) 622-8711 or visit the website:
