Hogan Foundation Seeks New Sponsor for Pleasant Hawaiian Hula Show

Press Release: Hogan Family Foundation
July 11, 2002
HONOLULU, HI -- The Hogan Family Foundation, the non-profit operating foundation founded by Ed and Lynn Hogan of Pleasant Holidays, yesterday announced that it is seeking new sponsorship for the Pleasant Hawaiian Hula Show. The historic tourist attraction in Kapiolani Park has been operating for more than 64 years. The Foundation began funding the Hula Show in 1999 when the Eastman Kodak Co., who had operated the show since 1937, was no longer able to continue its operation.

"As we look to the future of our Foundation, we are choosing to focus our contributions on our educational programs," said Gary Hogan, Associate Board Member of the Hogan Family Foundation. The Foundation is currently funding Entrepreneurial Programs at both Gonzaga University, in Spokane, Washington and Chaminade University in Honolulu. They also recently established the Hawaii Educational Boat Excursions for elementary-level public school children in Hawaii to lean more about their own customs and culture.

"Going forward, it is our goal to grow our educational programs," continued Hogan. "In light of this refocusing of our Foundation, our Board of Directors has determined that we should seek new sponsorship for the Pleasant Hawaiian Hula Show. We are working closely with the City of Honolulu to find a suitable company or organization to continue to operate this excellent venue."

The Hogan Foundation hopes to locate a qualified replacement that has a philanthropic interest in supporting the historic Hula Show in the near future. "It is our greatest wish to see the Hula Show continue," said Gary Hogan. "It is a treasured tourist attraction and does so much to give others an appreciation of the great Hawaiian history and culture. We hope we can locate a sponsor who can appreciate the value of continuing the great tradition of the Hula Show."
