Press Release: Marriott International
January 16, 2002
GUAM -- The Guam Marriott Resort announced its partnership with World Bridal Micronesia, Inc. to offer wedding
services and to build a wedding chapel. The chapel will be officially named the Marriott Amantes Chapel. “Amantes”
is a Spanish word, which means “lovers.”
Located on prime beachfront on Tumon Bay, the Guam Marriott Resort is one of Guam’s most majestic resorts. Marriott
International took over the management of the hotel in February 2000, and in April 2001, officially opened as the
Guam Marriott Resort, after completing a $13M renovation program.
“We are very excited to announce this partnership with World Bridal Micronesia, and to make our presence known
in Guam’s wedding market. This is a great way for us to start off the new year 2002. Our unique glass chapel will
certainly be a welcome addition to our new and renovated hotel facilities,” says Siamak Djalali, Guam Marriott
Resort’s general manager.
The Marriott Amantes Chapel, scheduled to open in March 2002, offers a magnificent 180-degree view from the Two
Lovers Point, to where the sun sets in the west. The interior high white ceiling and matching white marble floor
emphasizes the openness and serenity that Guam is known for. The turquoise, pristine ocean waters and expansive
blue skies make for a captivating view from the chapel.
Established in 1996, World Bridal focused its clientele on the Japanese wedding market. Since then, they have been
providing wedding services in over 40 countries around the world. “As Certified Wedding Specialists and distinguished
members of Weddings Beautiful Worldwide and National Bridal Service, we work together to offer professional wedding
consultant services. Our aim is to provide a professional, tailor-made wedding for each and every couple. No request
is too great or small and we will do our best to ensure a wedding that couples dream of, with their budget in mind,”
says Trevor Takasu, Vice President of World Bridal Micronesia, Inc.
World Bridal consultants offer a wide range of wedding services imaginable under one roof--at the Marriott--for
maximum convenience. Wedding ceremonies will be held in the morning, afternoon and evening (lit up). Some of the
services available include rental of wedding gowns and tuxedos, the wedding certificate, music, photo and video
services, hair and make-up, flowers, limousine rental, the Minister, and the reception. A variety of locations
within the Guam Marriott Resort can be utilized for the reception, including restaurants, outdoor venues, and the
presidential suite. Couples can also choose from a wide range of menus to suit every occasion.
The Marriott Amantes Chapel has seating for 40 guests, angled in a way for all to view, as the couple walks into
the chapel. Many features of this beautiful chapel have been hand-crafted to provide originality and style, including
traditional wooden pews and candle stands for candle-light ceremonies. The chapel is surrounded by manicured gardens
and stone walkways leading to the chapel, ensuring a beautiful, tropical atmosphere. Following the ceremony, a
champagne toast to the couple will be part of the package to add that little extra touch.
“World Bridal is pleased to add Guam to the growing list of cities and countries that we service,” says Takasu.
“Guam has been a major wedding destination and we are glad to finally be here.”
“With the combined expertise and service of Marriott and World Bridal consultants, we will offer to the bride and
groom a truly romantic wedding in our exquisite chapel and a glamorous reception at the Guam Marriott Resort,”
says Djalali.
