Press Release: The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino
August 14, 2002
LAS VEGAS, NV -- Adding to its long list of accolades, The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino has received the top hospitality
awards from "Casino Player" magazine, "Best Places" tour guide, and "Successful Meetings"
magazine.
The Venetian won "Best Overall Hotel" by "Casino Player" magazine's reader poll, the top "Four-Star"
rating by "Best Places," and the "Pinnacle Award" by readers of "Successful Meetings"
magazine.
"The Venetian is extremely honored that readers and publishers think so highly of our property," said
Rob Goldstein, President. "We are proud to have shaped and molded The Venetian into a world-renowned destination.
We continually strive to achieve the finest services, amenities, and luxury for our guests; and this type of recognition
serves to validate that."
"Casino Player" magazine polled over 8,000 readers through a ballot procedure, with questions ranging
from best pools and spas to best dealers and dining. The Venetian won five first place awards including "Best
Overall Hotel," "Best Lobby," "Best Standard Rooms," "Best Theme," and "Best
Health Spa." The Venetian was awarded with a total of 22 first, second, and third place awards out of 18 Las
Vegas mega-resort properties.
The "Pinnacle Award" given by "Successful Meetings" magazine is the most credible and prestigious
symbol of excellence among meeting planners and hoteliers alike. With over 75,000 readers polled, the "Pinnacle
Award" honors facilities based on two categories -- meeting and incentive travel and conference centers. Readers
are polled on everything from quality of meeting rooms and equipment to quality of food and guest accommodations.
As one of the best-selling travel guides, "Best Places" awarded The Venetian the highest honor of "Four
Stars." "Best Places" gives editors advice on the best restaurants, hotels, and tours. The "Four
Star" award is given only to the very best of each category.
Themed after Renaissance Venice, Italy, The Venetian offers guests 3,036 hotel suites (each standard suite measures
approximately 700 square feet), approximately 120,000 square feet of gaming floor, approximately 500,000 square
feet of retail space at The Grand Canal Shoppes, the luxurious 65,000-square-foot Canyon Ranch® SpaClub(TM),
approximately 500,000 square feet of meeting space at The Venetian Congress Center and a direct link to the approximately
one-million-square-foot Sands Expo and Convention Center.
The Venetian is currently building an additional 1,013-suite hotel tower, which will make it the third largest
hotel in the world upon completion in mid-June 2003. The expansion also includes 150,000 square feet of additional
convention center space. The suites in the new tower will help to better accommodate convention planners, exhibitors,
and attendees.
In October 2001, The Venetian also became home to two world-class museums: the 63,700-square-foot Guggenheim Las
Vegas featuring "The Art of the Motorcycle" installation and the 7,760-square-foot Guggenheim Hermitage
Museum featuring "Masterpieces and Master Collectors."
